Blacksmith Shed and Corn Crib

Blacksmith Shed and Corn Crib

These two structures were given by David Maddox and Cynthia Reed and moved from their grandfather’s home place – the Robert Tuck Venable Farm in the Brockton Community of Jackson County in the summer of 1997.

The structures are believed to have been built in the late 1800’s. The building with lean-to served as a Blacksmith Shed – the open side being used for the smoking fire and the other for storage. The second building was used as either a corn crib or as a shed to milk the goats.
