Adults and kids alike can play on the new 18-hole Spirit of the River Miniature Golf Course, which details the history of the Park and the people who lived on the land surrounding the Shoals - putt by putt on the three-quarter acre hillside. You can marvel at the carved bears and Indians as you try to make a par 4 or 5. Get lucky on the automatic holes-in-one. The first hole represents a tract of land along the Etoho River (North Oconee) near the Park that both the Creek and the Cherokee Indians considered holy, where no blood could be shed. Hole 2 depicts the place on that holy land where some of the county's first European settlers killed a bear, sparking a number of battles with the Creek Nation. One hole represents the founding of the first church and town surrounding the Shoals; another depicts the flood that destroyed the settlement in 1840. Play for fun and learn the history of the Shoals! All monies go to Park improvements.
